December 2007
Dear Family and Friends,

Christmas is upon us and Our Journey has much to be thankful for. I have been back in the states now for a couple of weeks and still settling in. It appears Santa's Elves have been staying busy in my absence with many exciting new projects going on state side. Ouida from Rincon First Christian Church, President of Our Journey Sewing Club, has been busy with her helpers Doris, Tony, Dean and daughter Debbie sewing quilts for the precious children back in South Africa. They have sewn dozens of quilts that will arrive in South Africa this July in time for winter.... this will be the fourth year they have done this for Our Journey.

You are making a difference in many children's lives...thank you!!!

My good friend MiMi has created her own project to help raise funds for Our Journey - check out Mimi's note and pictures:

Cute Fruit and Vegetable Hats for Kids
As a big fan of Our Journey, I am always looking for ways to support the work that Maureen does in South Africa. With the cold weather coming on, I started my annual winter past-time of knitting ... when an idea came to me, Why not knit hats for the orphan babies? Well, the seed was planted and the idea evolved and before I knew it I was knitting hats like crazy. The hats are so cute* that every time I show one, someone wants to buy it for a new grand baby, friend of a friend who is having a baby, etc. So, the idea morphed again and I began to collect donations for Our Journey in exchange for a hat.

For a $20 donation to Our Journey you too can have a cute fruit or vegetable hat for your child OR for $10 you can sponsor sending hats to children in South Africa! If you are interested in purchasing a hat, please contact MiMi at:

mimispirit@earthlink.net

Pick from the following fruits or vegetables:

*The hats are so cute because I am using Ann Norling's wonderful pattern. Ann has given her permission for us to use the pattern for our fund raising efforts as long as we do not photo-copy the pattern to pass around. Next July (when it is winter in SA) Maureen will send us photos of the children from the villages all snug in their hats. This project seems to be a natural fit with what Maureen and Our Journey is doing in South Africa.

Please keep Our Journey in your thoughts and prayers during the upcoming holidays and forward this journal to others on your mailing list. Our Journey needs to raise funds for the many projects to continue. We will take Our Journey's 2007 South African Presentation on the road starting in January 2008. Please let us know if you would like us to visit your church or organization. To see how your contributions are making a difference in many South African children's lives,
