January 28, 2008

Dear Friends,

Thanks to Mildred, our local Zulu friend in South Africa, this past Christmas Our Journey was able to provide a hot meal "with meat" to the 100 children enrolled in our After School Program.

In 2007, your donations enabled Our Journey to provide assistance to families and especially orphaned children of South Africa who live in an area decimated by the HIV/AIDS virus. Blankets for warmth, uniforms to allow children to attend school, community gardens to provide food, projects to help people become self reliant and activities to allow children to learn English and play are some of the programs your contributions helped support. In 2008 Our Journey will also be supporting three Zulu women to go for formal training to receive an early education certificate.

Please keep Our Journey in your thoughts and prayers during this new year and forward this e-mail on to your mailing list, Before returning to South Africa in July, Our Journey needs to raise funds for our projects to continue. We will take Our Journey's 2007 South Africa Presentation on the road starting January 2008, please let us know if you would like us to visit your church or group. Check out our web site at: www.ourjourneyinc.org

Next month's journal we will be able to give you a link to see the great article written about Our Journey in the February issue of "The Georgia Magazine". Can you believe - we are the cover story! Our Journey continues to receive so many blessings! Praise God!!!

Much Love,
Maureen

Another blessing - below is a letter sent to Our Journey from Sandra Magsamen, she has asked Our Journey Sewing Club (the baby quilt group) to participate in her new project. If you would like to participate in her project for Our Journey, please contact Sandra.

Dear Maureen,

I am a big fan of yours and the wonderful work you do on behalf of the children in Africa.

As you know I design gifts and clothes for my brand Messages From The Heart and over the past few years I have become concerned about the excess of materials that are generated by the production of my products. I was concerned that much useable material was going waste. SO.. I asked our fabric manufactures if they would donate all the extra fabric that is not used and give it me so I could work with seamstresses and sewers ( more like miracle workers or angels ) to create  beautiful quilts to be given to those  in need. I am thrilled to say that I have contacted several groups of women who have agreed to sew these works of heart and we should have quilts for you to take back to Africa in a few months. If you know anyone who would like to help with this effort please have them contact me and we will send them fabric. Our goal is to cover the world with love.

Best wishes and heartfelt thanks for all you do.
